Although Chakras are a popular subject and are widely searched for on the internet, the chakras are nothing new.
Sanskrit is arguably the oldest and most sacred living language, Chakra in Sanskrit means wheel.

The word wheel describes the rotating, circular motion of each energy centre chakra. They receive and send information to you and from you simultaneously.

Yogis have been working with the chakras for thousands of years. In Ayurvedic medicine, illness is regarded as an energy block in the body, usually anchored in one of the chakras. Healing methods including acupuncture also recognise the blocked flow of energy along the meridians as the root cause of disease and pain.

So, why are the chakras so important, and why have they been the focus of spiritual enlightenment since ancient times?

The answer is simple: chakras are places in you where energy is accumulated. It is important to know about them, because they determine where energy flows into your physical body and your esoteric body, and for what purpose.

Energy flow through your body determines your health and happiness and whether you are in tune with your surroundings. Understanding your chakras and improving the flow of energy through your body can bring you more health, happiness and harmony, bringing you more balance in your life. The chakras are gateways to spiritual power and possibility and have been a source of fascination and study for thousands of years.

The chakras can be traced back to the Vedas, the most ancient texts of India. They are the foundation of Vedic medicine and Hindu wisdom. There are four Vedas, and the Upanishads are most widely known and recognised, the Upanishads contain the wisdom regarding spirituality and meditation. They contain information about the chakras, written don’t forget thousands of years ago.

There are seven primary energy centres we will discuss. However, some traditions point to many more energy centres in the body, the Chinese system of acupuncture also demonstrates this is true. The basic chakra system though is enough for this course. We will cover each of the chakras in details along with their gemstones, essential oils, tarot and other correspondences.

Each module will include a specific meditation, mantra and yoga sequence for each chakra so that you can connect with the chakras in multiple ways. The reason that I’m putting this body of knowledge together in a way that will be understood by many is that spiritual teachings are not meant to be intellectual exercises, they are meant to be lived, you should experience the concepts and discover what they represent.

The seven chakras we will discuss begin with the base or root chakra, this is followed by the sacral chakra, then the solar plexus chakra, the heart chakra, the throat chakra, the third eye chakra and the crown chakra. Following this order, the chakras will unfold from the physical earthly realm to the ethereal spiritual realm. This journey will be echoed within your own spirit and as you read you will find that your body appears more aligned and comfortable.
Imagine this is the start of a journey, you are the fool from the Tarot about to embark on an adventure that will transform you. Please go through these lessons at a deliberate pace, so that you can embody the material and make it a part of who you are, not what you know.

As you work through the next few weeks you will experience a renewed connection to the energy located in each chakra and you will begin to embody them more in your life and spiritual practice.
