There are many reasons why people become interested in the occult. I feel that we find ourselves here because there is something about traditional religion and spirituality that doesn’t sit quite right with us.
It is about freedom and the fact that it puts spiritual power back into our own hands. We don’t need to visit a Priest, Imam, Rabbi or Brahmin to progress spiritually, we have the freedom to do it ourselves.
It’s all about developing spiritually and you’ll become aware of abilities intrinsic within all of us that you weren’t aware of, or couldn’t access before starting on this path.
There is so much out there that we can find it difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff.
This knowledge shouldn’t be hidden anymore – but even with the Internet people still find certain teachings difficult to navigate, there are so many ideologies out there that we become paralysed by analysis.
I’ll start with the basics to give you a good grounding, then you’ll be left to explore the Occult Universe on your own.
Please do bear in mind, that you have the rest of your life to explore and this material isn’t for the feint of heart, so don’t put any pressure whatsoever on yourself to learn it too quickly.
It’s a real journey to discover yourself and you may not be ready for or like what you discover in the early stages and beyond.
I’d like to invite people with a genuine interest in any of the topics on the site, to contribute and add their thoughts on the various topics so that our visitors get more than just my point of view on the Blog. Occult Universe is a space where people with like minds can meet and discuss what used to be considered hidden, arcane and secret knowledge. Thanks for visiting, I hope you find what you need.
Navigating the Occult Universe
In order to navigate the occult universe effectively, meditation is required from the start – it precedes everything from learning the tarot and developing psychic abilities through to carrying out complex rituals, and developing your astral body. Please start as you mean to go on and practice your meditation daily, even if it is only for a short while. We have a section on the website dedicated to meditation as it’s a very important part of your progression.
If you’ve never meditated and would like to start with a simple exercise – try the following for five minutes a day until you find something else that feels right for you.
Three Fold Breathing Exercise:
You hear more than once to concentrate on your breath regardless of what path you’re on. This simple exercise is quite widespread, it’s taught in the Golden Dawn, Yoga and you’ll also find the military teach this in order for their soldiers to deal with stressful situations.
1. People are told to make themselves comfortable, but the beauty of this technique is that you can use it anywhere and at anytime.
2. We’re going to concentrate on the breath so that we’re grounding ourselves in case the mind has taken over. Concentrating on the breath helps us to stay in the moment, disregarding any other thoughts that may be distracting or affecting us.
3. Close your eyes if you wish. Breathe in for a count of three, concentrating only on your breath, as you breathe in notice that you are breathing in.
4. Hold the breath for a count of three, concentrating only on holding your breath for a count of three.
5. Breathe out for a count of three, concentrating only on breathing out.
Repeat for five minutes or as long as you feel you need. Overtime time, try to increase to 4 seconds, 5 seconds, 6 seconds etc.
The aim of this website is to ensure that if you’ve found yourself on this journey, you’ll have all the information required in order to explore this fascinating paradigm of the world. We’ll accomplish this by offering information in an easy to understand way, providing books on various subjects, offering courses to keep you on track with your development and to signpost various groups around the UK and further afield so that you can further your studies alongside like minded individuals.
People have to start somewhere so we’ll introduce ourselves to the Kybalion (Hermetic Philosophy). As meditation is so important, we’ll look at various meditation practices. An outline of the ‘Fool’s Journey’ set out by the Major Arcana of the Tarot helps greatly and then the basics of the Kabbalah along with correspondences between the Tarot and the Kabbalah is a good place to start for anyone.
It’s been said that the majority of occultists are only seeking knowledge – that is they’re not practicing any regular meditation, rituals or inner workings. We’ll be sure to provide the theory and practical elements of whatever we are to cover.
The Kybalion is a summary of hermetic philosophy. There are seven Hermetic Principles contained in The Kybalion, and these explain what Occultists describe as the art of Mental Transmutation. This may sound like magic, but the hermetic teachings in The Kybalion are actually scientific.
Many of us don’t realise that there is a set of Universal Laws that apply to everything in existence. Hermeticism is an explanation of the universal principles which determine the reality you live in. If you master these principles people believe you can tap into the Divine Power of the Universe.
The Kybalion was meant to be so mysterious and secret that the authors didn’t even put their names on there. They call themselves the Three Initiates.
When you begin to read the book, you’ll be introduced to the fact that you’re reading it by design, only when the student is ready will the teacher appear. Only those ready for the wisdom in the book will ever discover it.
So long as there is any disturbance in our mind, we cannot get the vision of our true Self. The mind must be made one-pointed. When a man attains this, he sees the Self. If we analyze, we shall see that when anyone speaks harshly to us, the word is first outside us, then it enters into us and we grow angry. At first anger and we are separate; then we become one, we identify ourselves with it and we suffer. As long as we identify ourselves with conditions, we suffer; but when we cease to identify ourselves with these passing conditions, we never really suffer.
Now, if something agreeable happens, we feel pleasure; if something disagreeable comes, we feel pain. But this pleasure and pain are only momentary; and when in both we can keep our mind steady, we gain lasting concentration.
